what is the team assistant program?

The Team Assistant (TA) Program allows each church group to bring trusted high school juniors, seniors, or college-aged students to serve alongside your group at camp. Team Assistants have the opportunity to gain a behind-the-scenes look at camp ministry while partnering with CentriKid staff throughout the week. TAs may assist with Recreation, Bible Study, Track Times, and other camp elements (while paired with a CentriKid staffer).

This program provides:

  • Leadership development for older students who are growing in their faith
  • Ministry exposure for those who may be exploring a future in serving others
  • Stronger church community through shared, cross-generational experiences
  • Discipleship opportunities as older students model and invest in younger campers

Adult Ratio & Supervision
Team Assistants who are 18 or older may count toward your required 1:5 adult-to-camper ratio. Team Assistants who are under 18 do not count toward the adult ratio. Team Assistants are intended to serve alongside your group, not replace adult leadership. Each church group is responsible for ensuring that adult leaders (18+) provide supervision for all campers, including for each gender represented in the group. Team Assistants are housed with your church group during the week. Group Leaders, find more information here.

Pricing & Participation
We are happy to offer a $100 discount per Team Assistant for participants in the program. If you would like to add a Team Assistant to your existing registration, or if you are already planning to bring TAs, please call our customer service team at 877-CAMP-123 to have this discount applied to your account. Please identify any Team Assistants on your participant list, submitted 2 weeks prior to camp.

  • Must be a rising high school junior, senior, or college-aged student
  • Must actively participate in the Team Assistant role throughout the week
  • Students not participating in the TA role are not eligible for the discount
  • Younger students are not eligible to participate in the program

Note: This discount is not applied automatically and must be requested by phone or email ([email protected]).

responsibilities

TAs will help support your group in housing areas and at meals. They will also work alongside the CentriKid staff and help out with Recreation, Bible Study, and Track Times. In the evenings, TAs will sit with your group during Worship and Church Group Time, with the possibility to help out in production elements.

benefits for your group

Bringing TAs will allow you to use young adults from your own church to help minister to your kids. This is a great way to get students from your church involved, and it helps cultivate healthy relationships within your congregation. Many churches have found this to be one of the most impactful ways to help students take next steps in their faith and leadership.

WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE TO BE A TEAM ASSISTANT AT CENTRIKID

Check out a previous TA Guide here.

WHAT WILL I DO?

As a Team Assistant, you will get hands-on experience at CentriKid! You will shadow a staffer and help them out in different aspects of the day while getting to know the campers and help them grow in their walk with the Lord.

Some things you will do as a TA are help lead kids to different locations around campus, aid in different Bible Study and Track Time activities, and help manage campers as you play Recreation games!

WHO WILL I MEET?

Your main point of contact will be the amazing Recreation Director! They will meet with you on the first night of camp to explain your role and assignments. You will also get to meet some incredible CentriKid staffers and awesome campers!

WHAT WILL I GAIN?

You will gain practical ministry experience, develop relationships with campers from your church, and many memories from the best week of your summer!

WHY SHOULD I?

We challenge you to make every moment count with the campers and staff at CentriKid. We know that kids benefit from having caring leaders to invest in their lives, so being a TA opens the door for you to do that very thing! Serving as a Team Assistant has potential to make a life-long impact on a camper and their walk with the Lord!

Also, we may be biased, but CentriKid is the best place to be! That’s why you should join the fun!

This program is an amazing opportunity to grow as a Christian and also grow with your church group and other children. You get to go home and continue building that relationship.

The opportunity to serve as a TA was one step closer to walking full circle with CentriKid. As a child, camp was always the highlight of my year! As soon as I stepped into the TA role and saw the family on the CentriKid Staff Team around me, I knew I wanted to be part of it one day. I applied as soon as I was eligible, and really had the chance to go full circle with CentriKid – camper, TA, and staffer.

It was amazing! God touched my heart in many ways this week of camp. I felt loved, and I felt God’s calling into children’s ministry! Working with all the other staffers was amazing.
Henry SFormer Team Assistant

CentriKid Camps has always been special to me because, as a kid,  it truly is what planted the seed that led me to salvation. I had felt the Lord leading me to Children’s Ministry for a while but didn’t know what that looked like. So when I heard about the opportunity to be a TA at CK, I asked my leader to sign me up. And I don’t regret a thing! It truly was amazing!
